Devotional - Equipped for works of service
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” Ephesians 4:11-12
Message:
This has long been a precious foundational verse for Christian Sensory Support - Equipping others for works of service and for building up the body.
Do you recognise that you are doing a work of service?
Are you able to reflect that even the small and seemingly insignificant acts of love; tying up of shoe laces; putting food on the table; giving someone a smile, are building up the body?
If you are not tearing down then you ARE building up.
Each word you speak, if it’s not discouraging or negative, will be supporting or encouraging or helping in some way.
Each act you do, if not done to destroy, will be reassuring, practical, comforting.
Do not underestimate the power of God’s goodness in you and doing the right thing!
You may have a very quiet and ‘unseen’ ministry to your family and others, or you may have a larger stage, but either way, your works of service are building others up.
Time spent with others is a potent way of building others up – especially when combined with working on integrating the senses!
Point to ponder:
How filled to the brim with purpose are you with your works of service – no matter how small?
Prayer pointer:
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you that I am not insignificant to you. Thank you that my life means something to you. Thank you that you chose me to be a part of your body to do works of service to build others up. Thank you, Lord, for your amazing design in making us all parts of one body. Not to earn eternal life, but to live it to the full now! Give me your heavenly insight on my life to see you smile and sing over me, and help me continue to serve in Jesus’ name. Amen!”
