DEVOTIONAL: Feeling alone?

“But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” Psalm 3:3 (NIV)

MESSAGE:

Feeling alone?

Feeling lonely?

Feeling dejected?

You look at other people around you on social media and seeing your friends getting dressed to go out, seeing other people’s children smile for the camera, knowing your child wouldn’t understand enough to stand there for 2 seconds or appreciate putting on a smile, that you can’t chat about your day or what they want for tea, because they can’t understand or verbalise in the same way?

Even getting out the door or into the car is a big struggle. 

Everything is different for you.

Everything is a constant reminder of how different life is for you.

You may even feel bad for saying that

As if no one understands

Lots don’t!

But some do – we do.

God does.

When Elijah hid in his cave after one of the most memorable show downs ever, he was no doubt defeated and depressed, alone and lonely, praying he would die.

In that still small voice, God came and revealed that he was not alone - there were 7,000 others who hadn’t bowed to Baal.

You may not need 7000! Just one other will do. You are not alone!

POINT TO PONDER: 

How alone did Elijah in the cave on Mount Horeb? Even if it was it his truth was it THE truth? Con you lift your eyes today and see the THE truth?

PRAYER:

 Dear Heavenly Father,

For those times that I am tempted to turn in on myself in pity, help me turn outwards to you. Lift my head to see you and connect with you. Lift my head to see and connect with others around me, to know that I am not alone.

Thank you, Jesus.
