Devotional: He will make your feet like deer's feet

Bible verse: 

“The Lord God is my strength, He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me 

walk on my high hills”

Habakkuk 3v19

Message:

When reading this verse we can initially wonder why it would be a good thing to have feet like deer’s feet. Well, deer’s feet or hoofs to be exact, are very cleverly designed by God. The hoofs of a deer allow it to navigate high and steep places, where the ground can be uneven and treacherous. Even though Habakkuk’s legs shook with fear and were weak as he worried about the future of the people of Israel, he acknowledged God as the source of his strength. This strength from God allowed him to walk as surefooted as a deer on high hills, despite facing difficult circumstances. 

We likewise need to moment by moment lift our eyes to The Lord and use the strength He gives us. As we live by faith and trust in Him, we can have the same confidence that a surefooted deer has climbing high hills and mountains. 

So, maybe you currently feel like you are walking on very uneven, hazardous and sometimes even treacherous ground? The challenges we face in life and parenting can sometimes leave us feeling like this. Take some time to remember that The Lord God is your strength and remember that by His grace, as you look to Him, He can enable you to walk confidently and as surefooted as a deer.

Prayer pointer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I recognise that you are sovereign and faithful over all of creation, history and myself and my family. Lord, you know the beginning from the end. Lord, I lift my eyes to you and declare that you are where my strength comes from. I ask that you would make my feet like deer’s feet, so I can walk surefooted and with confidence through challenging times.
