Devotional: I See You!

devotional

“But you, O Lord, know me; you see me, and test my heart toward you.” Jeremiah 12:3a

Message:

If I may share a little something.

You may or may not know that my husband has a diagnosis of MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and a visual impairment.

A while ago he went to church early as he was on the door welcoming people in.

When I went in, he smiled and greeted me warmly but it was obvious he didn’t know who I was…

That he couldn’t see me.

He didn’t recognise me.

I shed a few tears in worship that day over the way something else has been slowly taken away from him and from us.

Then later in the week he sliced a couple of his fingers with a knife and called out for help while I was on a zoom.

Next, he was having forgetful moments and asking questions about things he had already asked.

And so it goes on.

Everyday there’s something.

Maybe for you it feels like every moment of everyday! It’s the going from 1-100 in a split second or the nasty words or the slowness of getting anything done or the balancing act of pleasing everyone in the household…

When you’re spent and in tears again, take time to snuggle up to Him, place your head on his chest and feel his arms around you and hear his heartbeat.

He knows.

He sees you.

He loves you.

Point to ponder:

How do you react towards God when your heart is tested? Push Him away or draw closer?

 Prayer:

“Dear Abba Father, thank you for sending your Holy Spirit as comforter and friend. Thank you that you see me. No one else sees the ins and outs of everyday life like you do. You know me, you created me, you know everything about me. Help me receive the fullness of your compassion and love. Thank you Lord, Amen.”
