Devotional - Injustice

Bible verse: 

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: he will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV

Message:

There is so much injustice in the world, from Christians facing severe persecution for their faith, to those in this country also paying a price for their Christian beliefs, and right into our own homes where we or those we love face injustices of many sorts. Sometimes we are able to speak out or act, but sometimes our “only” recourse in these situations is to pray. Of course, it is in fact our most powerful weapon of all. 

This is a powerful verse to speak into situations of injustice. It is a promise with a pre-required condition, that the individual we are interceding on behalf of has committed his or her life to the Lord and is trusting in Him for the way ahead. If this is the case, then we can pick up this verse, alongside others and get to work.

Prayer pointer:

Heavenly Father, thank you that you are a God of justice, that righteousness and justice are the foundations of your throne (Psalm 92:2).  Thank you for your powerful Word and that we can cry out on behalf of ….. that his/her righteousness will shine like the dawn and the justice of his/her cause like the midday sun. Just as David came against Goliath in the name of the Lord God Almighty (1 Samuel 17:45), we too come against (the situation) in His name. We declare that God’s purposes will prevail in …. life (Proverbs 19;21) and that His will be done. May justice roll on like a river and righteousness like a never ending stream ( Amos 5:24).
