Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said it quite true.” “Sir, the woman said, “I can see you are a prophet.”

John 4:17-19

MESSAGE:

Do you sometimes feel invisible?

That the world carries on regardless?

That you pick yourself up and get on with the day with no one really knowing what you are dealing with

or carrying

or how much it takes out of you just to show up?

Jesus’ words to the Samaritan woman at the well couldn’t speak more deeply into how God knows us and cares for us.

The beauty of the prophetic word, that she recognised Jesus spoke, is that it speaks right to our core about God’s love for us.

He knows us intimately.

There is no hiding

There is no need to hide!

What about those around you?

Do they have ‘odd’ behaviours? What do you observe in them?

Quirky habits all of their own?

Like chewing their bed,

or obsessively chewing gum?

What’s going on?

Maybe it’s oral seeking from an over reactive or under reactive gustatory or proprioceptive system, maybe it’s for self-regulation, maybe it’s because of poor discrimination, maybe…?

Or that for the first time in their lives they are interested in listening out for things and they are wanting to hear the subtle differences in sound that blowing a straw across different surfaces make!

Maybe that’s an insight of how much more regulated they are so their brain can move on from being defensive and in flight or flight mode to being able to work on auditory discrimination and being interested in developing their auditory processing and the joys of sound.

What about squatting on a chair?...

Let us not condemn behaviours but see what they are saying.

All are so dependent on each individual’s sensory thumbprint and we need knowledge, wisdom, discernment, and Holy Spirit insights to see the core issue to address them well.

May we have eyes to see and ears this week to hear this week what the Spirit is saying.

POINT TO PONDER:

When was the last time you were aware of asking God to show you something from his heart?

PRAYER:

“Heavenly Father, thank you that you formed me, you created me, you created me inside and out, you made me unique, you made each of us unique. Show me today something from your heart for me, my family or those around me. Give me your insight, a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, a word of encouragement – no matter how small or faint I may sense it. Help me to see others through your eyes and increase discernment in the behaviours that I see. Help me to see others as you see them, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
