Devotional: Provision

Bible verse: 

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Message:

This verse can be encouraging or scary. It’s amazing to think that the seeds you plant now will grow to be the foundation of the path that your children will choose one day, Scary because it gives us a great responsibility. 

It’s important to remember that we are not alone in our task to raise children and that the Lord truly will provide everything you need. Sometimes it’s the community around you at church, or resources you find online, sometimes it’s the Holy Spirit’s quiet voice guiding you in a certain way. If we align our hearts and minds with God. If we seek His will and actively listen for His guidance then we have hope and assurance that all will be well, eventually. He doesn’t promise it will be easy but He will be there, walking you through it.

And grace… yes, grace is needed because we are human, and we make mistakes. There was only one perfect being to walk this planet and although we strive to become more and in His image, the truth is that grace is an amazing safety net. Not because we want to fall but knowing that if we do accidentally, it’s not to our death. This can bring great confidence! Don’t bow to the lies of the enemy saying that you are not good enough, you are too broken, or whatever lie he is throwing at you. You were hand-picked for your children. He chose you, he trusts you and he will guide you.

So if you are feeling this now, if you don’t feel deserving, you don’t know how to do what you need to do, turn your eyes to Him, seek out His direction and peace and comfort. And also, connect with the connections you have been provided. 

Prayer pointer:

Father God, we lift our eyes to you. We pray for the strength and provision we need for the job you have entrusted us with well. Thank you that we are not alone and you will provide what we need.
