Devotional - Quiet

Bible verse: 

‘’Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.’’ Psalm 131:2 NLT

''Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST (renewal, blessed quiet) FOR YOUR SOULS.'' Matthew 11:28-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Message:

In this busy world we live in, with voices from every direction demanding our attention, it is sometimes hard to switch off. It feels like we are the juggler at the circus who has had too many shakers piled one after the other, and like we can stop or they will all come tumbling down. 

Consider this a reminder today that God stands beside us waiting to catch them all - Matthew 11:28-30 ‘’Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Jesus invites us to lay it all down. To still our souls. To set aside the turmoil inside and just be quiet and rest in Him.

Does your mind race? Do you find it hard to be still? Do you feel guilty because you can’t be still - even that - God knows, He made you and loves you. Take it all to Him, jumbled and crazy. 

Point to ponder:

Your rest might not be the same as someone else’s rest - God will meet you where you are. Make time for Him today

Father God, we lift our eyes to you. We pray for your peace, understanding and love. Thank you that we are not alone and you will provide what we need.
