Devotional: Strength and Power to the Weak and Weary
TODAY’S VERSE
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
Isaiah 40:29
MESSAGE
Sensory struggles often hide beneath the surface, don’t they?
The tiredness, overwhelm, the shutdowns, the “I can’t cope,” the clothing that irritates, the sounds that pierce, the lights that drain.
Children may show it loudly;
adults often carry it quietly.
And both can feel misunderstood.
But God never overlooks the weary.
He never says “try harder.”
He never compares or criticises.
He gives strength to the weary.
Strength to breathe through the moment.
Strength to try again.
Strength to love and support when feelings run high.
Strength to calm when everything inside feels chaotic.
And He increases the power of the weak — meaning He fills the gaps.
He adds what you feel you’re missing.
He steps in where you feel you’re failing.
He supports the parts of you (or your child) that feel fragile.
You are not meant to do this alone.
The God who designed the nervous system also knows how to soothe it.
His strength meets you in the very place you feel stretched thin.
POINT TO PONDER
Where do you feel weary today in your sensory world or your child’s — and what strength might God be offering in that space?
PRAYER
“Heavenly Father, thank You that You see every overwhelmed moment. Strengthen me where I feel tired, and strengthen those I love who face sensory challenges. Fill our gaps with Your peace and Your presence. Thank You that we never walk alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
