Devotional - What am I doing wrong?

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Message:
Do you ever say this to yourself?
Are there times it seems like nothing you do gets the response you think it will?
You try to do everything with the best intentions and then you still get attitude, meltdowns, nasty responses or no sleep?
It’s tough going!
This isn’t a “it’s all going to be fine in the morning” type email because that's not your reality is it?
But it is a “hang on in there” email.
Some seasons last a long time.
Some don’t.
Some seasons are harder than others, but they do all pass. Eventually.
Even when you can’t see how – they will pass.
When the thoughts come.
Don’t feed them.
Take them captive.
If you’re hurting then you may need some time to retreat to heal and recover.
Protect yourself though where you can against falling into a paralysing pity party.
If you’re there already - do you need help getting out? Or do you need to sit for just another while longer before you are ready to come out?
When the time is right - Gird your loins, hold fast to what you know, praise and worship deep and often and set your affection on things above to help you through.
Point to ponder:
Are your hard times getting any easier just yet?
Prayer pointer:
“Father God, thank you for the times when life is going well and rewarding. Thank you for the times when life is totally beyond my coping and I am totally reliant you. Thank you that you are always there. Thank you that even in giving thanks my attitude can change. Thank you that in dark seasons you deepen roots, for something good to come forth in its own time. Help me to hold on for the next season. Amen.”
