“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”
2 Corinthians 10:5

MESSAGE:

The Bible instructs us to take every thought captive that sets itself against what God says and who He is

and who we are

and who our children are

and how valuable the lives are of those around us.

When thoughts go unexamined, they can do a lot or harm.

Both to us and to others.

They can spiral out of control and it’s very easy to let them make a mountain out of a molehill.

It’s very easy to think and say:

“You’re always…..!” ☹

You’re constantly……!” ☹

“I’ll never…..”

“Will you never learn….?” ☹

“Will you ever remember to……?” ☹

Exaggeration is one subtle scheme and thought process that needs to be slayed.

Scripture believes that we can and should do something about those unhelpful thoughts.

God’s word itself is our very weapon.

POINT TO PONDER:

What do I have as a quick response guide to finding a scripture to take captive every unhelpful thought?

PRAYER:

Dear Loving Father, you are the source of all that is good and right and Holy. Help me to pay attention to what comes to mind that is not good, right or Holy – towards myself or others. You know it does me no good to dwell on these things. Help me to remember that just because the birds circle above me, I don’t need to let them nest in my head. Thank you Jesus! Amen!
